Slumdog star Rubina Ali's father facing fresh allegations

The father of one of Slumdog Millionaire's child stars was today accused of driving one of his elder daughters out of the family home, hours after he was questioned over claims that he tried to sell nine-year-old actress Rubina Ali for £200,000.

Rafiq Quereshi was interviewed by police yesterday for allegedly offering Rubina for sale for £200,000 in an illegal adoption deal. He was not arrested and has denied the allegation, which appeared in the News of the World on Sunday.

Today Rubina's elder sister, 13-year-old Sana Ali, came forward with her own tale of discord, claiming that the film's success had prompted her father to drive her away from the family home.

“My father said I was unwanted and Rubina was more precious,” Sana told the Hindustan Times. “The Oscar has destroyed my family.” link...
