SRINAGAR, Apr 24: United Jehad Council (UJC) has welcomed the Hurriyat Conference (M) decision on Lok Sabha elections and hoped that leaders of Hurriyat (M) will apprise people of the demerits of polls.
According to local news agency, KNS, spokesman of UJC, Syed Sadaqat Hussian has tanked chairman Hurriyat (M) Moulvi Umar Farooq and other leaders for taking election boycott decision.
He said that the pro-freedom leaders of Hurriyat (M) have yet again proved their loyalty and sincerity for the ongoing movement and freedom of Kashmir by re considering the decision on polls and due to their efforts and policy, Kashmir issue has gained international recognition.
Spokesman said that the decision on polls has also clarified confusion among the Hurriyat leadership itself and it has saved leadership from difference of opinion on the issue.
He said that the decision on poll boycott was in the interest of ongoing movement and hoped that the separatist leadership will apprise people of the demerits of Lok Sabha polls. Meanwhile, separatist leader, Qutab Alam has also hailed the Hurriyat (M) decision on polls.
Asiya hails Mirwaiz's stand
SRINAGAR, Apr 24: Hailing Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman Hurriyat Conference (M), for his election boycott stance, Syeda Asiya Andrabi, chairperson, Dukhtaran-e-Milat today appealed him to shunt out Moulana Abass Hussain Ansari, Abdul Gani Bhat, Fazal Haq Qureshi and Bilal Gani Lone from his faction.
In a statement she said the expulsion of Ansari, Bhat, Qureshi and Bilal was imperative for putting to an end the chaos and confusion created by their contradictory statements on polls.
"If they are not expelled from Hurriyat, atleast they should be ousted from the executive council to restore the faith of the people. Infact this group does not represent any party. Their parties are limited to their own persons," Asiya said.
She viewed that it is the need of the hour to rise above the traditional politics and save the ongoing movement from the damage of such politicians. "Mirwaiz sahib himself stated that Hurriyat would jointly run the boycott campaign. The pro-freedom leadership must come on a single platform and get access to people. They must make the masses understand the importance of poll boycott in the backdrop of Kashmir issue and practically motivate them to become a part of election boycott," Asiya said.
Kashmir Bar calls for election boycott
SRINAGAR, Apr 24: Kashmir Bar Association has appealed people to boycott the Lok Sabha elections and demonstrate full support for the ongoing movement.
According to a press release, senior lawyer and president Bar Association, Mian Abdul Qayoom and general secretary; advocate Ghulam Nabi Shaheen addressed lawyers after Friday prayers here.
Bar president said that elections were not an alternative to the right to self-determination and these can not change the disputed nature of Kashmir. He said that brute use of force can not suppress the freedom spirit of people and India will never succeed in accomplishing its criminal policies.
